A Hiking we will go ...........

A few weeks ago we went to Zion National Park in Southern Utah! It was so much fun. We hiked a total of about 12 miles in 2 days. We would have hiked more, but it snowed one of the days we were there! You'll have to keep reading to see if we made it to the top of Angels Landing! This is a hike along the ridge of a mountain top with cliffs on either side and a chain rope to hold on to. A little scary but kind of sounds exciting at the same time. Our Vacation started with a hike up to the Emerald Pools.

Here is the first part of the trail. It was a perfect day for hiking!

This is at the Middle Emerald Pool. Just beyond this area there is a spot where the trail splits off and if you take the steeper trail you will find the Upper Pool which has this beautiful waterfall I couldn't fit it all in one picture since it is so tall.

It was a nice spot to stop and eat lunch! But watch out for the hungry Squirrels!!!

This is the view from the Lower Pool. The trail actually goes right under the waterfall It was Pretty neat!

The Second day we were there it rained most of the day and then even SNOWED! So we didn't do any hiking that day. But on the 3rd day we set out to conquer the mountain...... ANGELS LANDING that is.

This is the view about 1/2 way up the trail! Sorry the Stud with the hat isn't part of the beautiful scenery ......... he belongs to me!

Yes that is snow on the trees behind me!

About 2 miles up the trail you get to a spot they call Scout's Landing. Here is the view from the top of Scout's Landing.

And here is the spot that Cecilia CHICKENED OUT !!! Brad was braver than I and he went on a bit further until he got to a spot that he calls " The Stairway of Death" (picture below)

Here is a picture Brad took just before returning to the safety of Scout's Landing. We made a valiant effort but I guess we're just not brave enough to risk our lives just to get to the top of the mountain! The view from Scout's Landing is beautiful and a great place to stop and enjoy! We then made our way back down. The rest of our vacation was spent with Brad's sister and her family! It was a great vacation and a much needed rest from work!
